It is absolutely gorgeous outside today! Living in Utah isn't my most favorite thing in the world, but you can't help but love going through all the seasons. Especially from the white death (snow) to the bright new life of spring.
Today's refashion had no thought behind it. Perhaps I was so exhausted from yesterday that I didn't really want to do anything. I'm human, guys. However, despite my dragging feet, I did manage to get some sort of project done.
Burried in the bottom of my never-ending fabric stash, I had a couple of nightgowns my grandma had given me. I've already refashioned one into a top a few months ago. Along with the gowns, I had a large black tee shirt, a good 3 sizes above what I wear.
*Note: my camera completely died right before I was going to take the pictures for this tutorial. I hope you don't hate iPhone photos, because of course, there are no more batteries in our home, and that's all I had to use.
1. To start this project, I used one of my favorite tee shirts as a pattern. Lay the smaller shirt down, fold the sleeves in, making your shirt look like a tank top. Cut around the shirt, adding 1/2 inch to 1 inch of seam allowance.

2. Following our first step, I cut the original neckline away from the shirt. Nothing about the original neckline was flattering for anyone. I'm doing this black tee a favor by getting rid of it. Then I folded the raw edge over twice, pinned, and stitched in place. Once that was completed, I pinned the sides of the shirt together, sewed them in place, and finish off the seams.
Not pictured: After I sewed the sides together, I tried my shirt on, holding up my nightgown to the place I wanted them to meet. I cropped off the bottom portion of the black tee.
3. This nightgown was quite a bit larger than my black tee. Honestly, the only cutting I made on this nightgown was to ditch the straps. With so much extra fabric to handle, I created a few pleats around the entire thing, pinning the right sides of the nightgown to the tee shirt together, and then stitched and finished all the edges. For the sleeves, I rolled the raw edges over twice, and sewed into place.
That's all she wrote!
