Guess what. You know that refashion I said I would do in a few days? Well I finished it today. Guess I'm a little more driven today than normal. If only I could be that way about my music. :/ Keyboards just aren't the same, ya know? I digress.
Branson didn't like this shirt because it rubbed his skin raw--weird, I know. But hey, I'm getting a free shirt. In fact I saw almost the same shirt at some store in the mall, (I hate shopping so I could care less what store it was from. Labels are just words.) and I was't prepared to spend over 30 dollars (I know, I'm frugal), so this is as good as it gets. And I like it! :) I already had the shirt and the lace so this is a free shirt. Who doesn't like that? Can I get an amen?!? No? Okay.
I took the sides and sleeves in about 3-4 inches. (Made me feel a little bit better about not being chubby.)
Side view: Love the solid color and then the white feminine lace in the back.
The back is my favorite. I love the scallop bottom! It would be so boring without the little details.
Tutorial:
First you need a shirt. This is a slight yellow-tan-beige-green...and it's prettier than it seems. Trust me. I wouldn't make something with crap.
Then I cut the collar off the top of the shirt. You could hem it here if you wanted to, but I didn't know if I was going to keep the neckline, so I just kept it the way it was for the time being.
I cut the back off the shirt leaving the front panels and the sleeves. Taking the removed back, I laid it over the lace and trimmed around it leaving 1/4 in seam allowance. After I pinned the lace to the shirt, I zig-zag stitched all the way around, and then I did a straight stitch. (Which I had to remove...yeah. Think twice.)
I cut the sleeves to my desired length.
Note: If you don't have a serger, you can zig-zag stitch the edges to keep them in place. I demand you do this unless you want it to fray and ruin all the hard work you've done.
I hate button downs unless you sew the pieces down. Like above. Now nothing will pop out and scare ya. It's good for chesty people if you get my drift. hehe
Okay, my hem isn't perfect, but I was too excited to be precise. In a few days when I look at it again, I'm going to go crazy. Then I might fix it, but maybe not. I love this shirt.
Happy sewing!
