Pimp My Wardrobe Item #4

This shirt was indeed a hand-me-down, and it sat in my closet gathering dust. It's already a pretty warm year for us here in Utah, which is weird. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. In fact, putting away my winter wardrobe is always a happy time for me. The sooner the better! I love this peasant blouse, but it did belong to my grandma. The fabric is thin enough to be breezy yet thick enough I don't have to wear a ton of layers which I feel is perfect for summer! On another high note, this refashion only took 30 minutes and consists of straight lines. It's so easy!

To start this refashion, I chopped off those puffy sleeves. I turned my blouse inside out, and used my iron to press my new seams, folding the fabric over twice. I secured this with pins.

Following that step I took my shirt in 2 inches on both sides. I love the open feel of peasant blouses, but I don't want it to look like I'm a balloon. (Not pictured).

I thought I was finished, but I didn't really like the length. Instead of creating my own hem, I used the original hem and folded it in towards the inside of the shirt about 1 1/2 inches, pressed it flat, and secured my work with pins. Using the edge of the original hem as a guide, I stitched it in place and pressed all my new hems flat. That's it!

(I have no idea why this is SO blue.)

Today I'm grateful for...spontaneous lunch dates with Branson, and infectious giggles.
