I'm so glad April is here! The last few weeks I've been able to sport my flip flops, but I am dying for it to be warm enough for shorts. Summer is such good time for me. It could possibly be the bright colors of the grass, the sky, or even the red kiss of pain the sun loves to bestow upon me. Take your pick. Of course, my current favorite spring/summer color is neon pink. I don't know what it is about that in-your-face pop of pink, but it just sinks its teeth into me and I'm a goner. Now some people don't want to take the plunge into neon mostly because I think they're afraid of being caught in something so shocking. Not to worry, I've got ya covered. You'll find this tutorial to be a pretty easy, 30 minute project to kill time. I made this little beauty before heading off to bed for the night. Lets get started!
Supplies:
A piece of leather (mine was a scrap leftover from this tutorial.)
A necklace chain of your desired length (I prefer the larger chain links.)
Neon pink paint/nail polish
Two jewelry pliers
Scissors
Card-stock (to create your design)
Tape
1. First you're going to want to cut out your pattern. I used a small piece of card-stock and created this simple triangle.
A necklace chain of your desired length (I prefer the larger chain links.)

Tape
2. Taking your pattern piece trace out as many pieces as you'd like. I did 5, but only ended up using 4. Cut them out when you're finished.
3. Using the jewelry pliers I peeled the chain links apart just a little, enough to fit through the holes of the leather.
4. Take your needle (nail if you prefer) and push it through the leather. I liked using this larger needle because I only had to push it through once, twisting at the eye of the needle to make a round hole.
5. Insert your chain links into the holes.
6. Once you've placed one chain link in each hole of the leather, line up your pieces. If you look closely, I added a chain link in the middle to combine the two leather pieces. Following that step I measured the length of the necklace I wanted, and removed the unnecessary chain links.
7. Grab your tape and place it across your triangles, creating a barrier. Then begin painting. It took roughly 5 coats before I reached my desired look. Wait for in to dry and then put that baby around your neck and rock your summer!
Today I am grateful for...the quick 5 minute phone calls Branson and I share on his breaks at work.
