Cereal Box Refashion

I'm sure you're reading the title and scratching your head. Go ahead, take your time. You good now?
Great!

Over the last couple weeks of being stuck in my apartment, I've been going through all our crap (again!) and clearing out the clutter. Yesterday I threw away over two hundred pens, pencils, crayons, markers, etc. Why I hoard writing utensils I have no clue, but I shan't do it any longer! When we moved back in May we donated most of our things to our local DI. Now here we are, three months later, and I am repeating the process all over again. I'm nothing if not repetitive.

My goal is to have the apartment organized and clutter free by the 25th when Branson starts school up again. His time is so absorbed in work and school, I've been taking advantage of him whenever I can get the chance. He has an eye for picking what items are important enough to stay, and which items aren't worth the space.

Today I noticed we had all these notebooks and papers just piling up in a large container. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, but since I'm trying to limit the amount of large storage bins in our apartment it has to go. I didn't want to spend a fortune buying separate containers, so I came up with something on my own.

Branson goes through cereal faster than I can bring it in. If I'd let him, he would eat cereal and ice cream all day long. Disgusting. As you can imagine, we have many empty cereal boxes around our apartment waiting to be recycled.

I drew a line where I wanted my opening to be. Then starting from the top, I slowly cut out my shape from one side of the box to the other, ending with the above result.

I pulled out a few sheets of craft paper, traced my box outline, and then cut out the pieces. Next time I will most likely use glue instead of tape, but you work with what you have.

And that's all she wrote! It's so easy, and perfect for those boxes lying around. Another awesome way to cover these boxes would be fabric and a hot glue gun! There are so many fun ways to organize space around the house.

*Today I am grateful for...my husband's brutal honesty, and his keen eye for knowing what's what.
