Like for Branson's project, I went to Wal-Mart in their fabric section and went to the back corner where they keep the squares of fabric. I got 8, 18''X 21" squares that were different and would pull together. Once I got home I laid the fabric out just how I wanted it and then I pinned two edges together at a time.
This is the fabric after it has been pinned.
I only placed the fabric on the right edge of the presser foot. Mainly because I don't want a huge seam allowance.
After I finished I pressed the seams open and went onto going three more before I was finished.
This is the end product of all the pieces being sewn together. Lots of gray and black. The light gray patch in the upper left corner is blank, along with the black one. The rest of the squares have different patterns. (I seriously feel like I might have to steal this...)
Now, I tend to add a little 'umph' to my projects. I added a finish on the outer portions of the fabric, near where I had previously sewn. The arrow indicates where I lined up my needle. One the inner portion of the left 'prong', I followed the green and white edge. Then I flipped it around and did the same process, but followed the right prong, not the left.
This is the finished product. I did this across the seams horizontally, and vertically. (It's not totally even. Bite me. I got stuck watching UnderWorld. I can only do so much.)
For right now, this is all the project I've been working on. I will hopefully be posting the rest of the tutorial in the next couple weeks. Happy sewing!
