Happy Saturday everyone! Today I threw together a quick project, perfect for a lazy weekend. Last November I made a bunch of these burp cloths to give out as gifts for the pregnant ladies in my life. They turned out to be a big hit!
When I make these burp cloths, I like to use a cotton or flannel for one side, and a soft minky fabric for the other side, but it's a versatile piece, so you really can't go wrong. Use whatever you want! Using an old scrap of felt, I drafted out my shape beforehand. The felt isn't going into the cloth, but it is a great template for future use. Also, you can make these any shape your pretty little heart desires. My next bunch I'm going to try rectangles, and a few other shapes I'm excited to test out. Go crazy!
Using my felt template as a guide, I cut out my pieces, one from each of your fabrics.
Once you've cut out your pieces, flip them right-sides together, and pin all the way around. The green flower pins below are markers where I am NOT going to sew. You'll need an opening to turn the fabric right-side out after you've sewn them together. Carefully stitch around the edge, about 1/4-1/2 (depending on your preference and desire) all the way around.
Below you can see how I've turned my cloth right-side out. You can see the gap that we will sew shut in a moment.
Pin your gap closed. I continue the pins around the edges, just like I did before. Sew around the entire cloth again, making sure you're close to the edge, but not so close that you'll venture off and your lines will look like squiggles. Unpin once all your sewing is complete, and don't forget to trim those strings!
Today I am grateful for my 30 day yoga challenge. It's kicking my butt.
