Scrap Pocket Tee

I've come to the conclusion that I hint at things for my husband to buy so later down the road, when he doesn't want to wear them anymore, I can steal them. Now, I do ask Branson if I can have his shirts before I take them and perform surgery. I love giving my clothes a face lift.

Branson had this shirt just sitting in the closet. He never wore it because it was too short on his belly. He has a pretty long torso.
You can't tell, but on the right side of this photo, there is a pocket. It blended in too well, and I had recently seen on Pinterest (my addiction), so taking scraps and making a new tee shirt.

So I searched through this lovely bin.
The middle bin is so full I had to use force to pry it open. I don't like to waste anything when it comes to sewing. It feels like I'm throwing money away, so I keep the smallest scraps (4X4 at the smallest), until I find they are needed.

From the pile I picked this lovely piece.
I am starting to love mixing and matching patterns. Its becoming something that I'm addicted to.

I then pinned my fabric around the pocket. I didn't remove the pocket, I just folded the fabric to fit, and pinned around it as so:
Then I sewed around the outer portion, leaving the top open and untouched.

See the top of the pocket? Sorry it is a blurry picture, but I only sewed a small portion of the top pocket to the original pocket.

And now the boring, looks fabulous! I think next time I'll add navy blue buttons to compliment it, but for now this project is perfect for me.
